1st Olango Island Eco-Adventure Ultramarathon

I joined last July 6's 50K ultramarathon with 2 of my colleagues as our final LSD for CUC 100K 3rd Leg on July 27th.  What was supposedly an LSD became very challenging for me to even finish.  Maybe because I did not have proper long distance runs prior to the event.  Or maybe because I was forcefully pacing with my colleagues which I was not used to.

30KM Test Run

We did a test run with race organizer, Jonel Mendoza, today from Brgy. Kansomoroy, Balamban to Cebu City today but I had to stop at KM12 just after Mt. View Park for personal reason.  :-)

The last time I ran 35K, which included the very long and steep downhill course (near Mt. View Park) last October, I had to rest my knees for almost a week.  I don't want that to happen again so I rode the 1st jeepney that's coming down instead.  After 100 meters or so, Jonel also decided to call it "done" and rode the same jeepney I was riding.

It was a very tiring but fulfilling run.  Tiring because our first 6K was almost an infinite uphill.  It took us 1:20 to get to KM 33 where Mr. Jonel offered a free GOTO that was so yummy.  I cannot refuse his offer because honestly I didn't eat for breakfast and I was planning anyway of eating something, somewhere, anytime soon.  It was also fulfilling because I was able to experienced running in the so called "Dreaded 6K Uphill".

I think I can perform better during the actual race after gaining more confidence during the today's test run.

Tomorrow is going to be my last long run before tapering for the last two weeks prior to the rest day.

Good luck to all participants.  See you at the finish line!!!

"Pagtong Run"

I bet there were thousands of "sunflowers" today.

Planned to do some heat training after lots of rest during the week.  I am (-)48Kms from my Ultra-Marathon sked for this week.  I didn't have the same motivation and had let laziness conquer me that's why I dedicated this run as a punishment...  hahahaha.

Started around 9:30 in the morning.  The first half of the 20.69 KM run was killing me literally.  There was no shade at all and I was feeling the heat even though I was wearing a light colored shirt and a cap.  It drained me and kept me out of focus.  I had to endure it all or else I might be surprised of what the actual 50K run on November 17th might offer.

But I was glad to finish the curse, I mean course in 2:51:02 hours.

Cansaga Bay Bridge

I always appreciate the beautiful scenery surrounding this bridge.  Of the 3 bridges that I usually cross during my LSD runs, this one definitely is my favorite.  Every time I pass this bridge (morning/afternoon), it never fails to showcase it magnificence.

I will always take time to stop at the middle, look around and say "Life is beautiful".

The Tale of Three Bridges

Lear Runners have organized a slow-pace 15K long run today passing the three bridges (Old Mactan Bridge, Cansaga Bridge and the Marcelo Fernan Bridge).

There were 8 of us who joined this activity, 3 of whom haven't even run a 10K yet. So kudos to you guys for the courage (Jersie, Zacarias, and Aizah)!!!

It was a nice run and the sun was also cooperating. We started at 10 minutes past 5AM and finished at 10 minutes before 9 AM. A lot of walk breaks especially on the last part were we basically walk off the last 2.5K.
